A huge thank you goes to Helli and his family, who put their trust in us from the very beginning and entrusted us with the Gompm Alm. It is important to us to continue to run this special place and to ensure that it remains a favorite destination for everyone looking for peace, nature and good company.
I'm sure I'll be asked this question a lot. Coming from the far north of Germany, I swapped my yellow rubber boots and mud flats for hiking boots and a dirndl to go up to the Gompm Alm.
It couldn’t be more contradictory: Instead of checking horizontal headwinds or tailwinds, when hiking here you calculate vertically in meters of altitude. Instead of 260 rainy days a year, there are sunny days, “Plattdeutsch” is no longer the number one official language, but the South Tyrolean dialect. Sometimes I still don’t know whether the person I’m talking to is shouting at me or giving me a compliment… But I’ll practice. Because there’s one thing I really want to do: give back the love and kindness that I’ve been shown in the last few months by so many great people I’ve gotten to know.
You welcomed me with open arms and many want to accompany me on my (crazy?) journey. I would like to welcome you to Gompm Alm with open arms and say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. My greatest wish is that you feel completely at home with me on the Alm and enjoy stopping by. Tell me your stories, let’s laugh together and – if our hearts need it – cry sometimes. Real connections are the most beautiful language in the world.
